We have developed a method of engaging very young children in the performing arts, enabling them to actively enjoy and participate in shows by involving them from the start. This project is to work with groups of young children from low socio-economic areas of Salford and Greater Manchester in the research and development of our next touring performance called Cloud Child.
We use a child-centred approach in our work for children, actively engaging their sense of wonder at the world and creating magic with their emotional literacy promoting a positive self-image and creative confidence to carry them through life. Research shows that early creative engagement delivers a host of benefits to the child’s development. Cloud Child - a tale of a little lost cloud who is befriended by performer and children - seeks to encourage the children to develop social skills and engage with nature as well as curiosity, inquisitiveness and creative arts.
With 20 years of experience in making theatre for early years, Rachel Riggs and Adam Bennett of DNA partner up with The Lowry to research and develop a very special theatre experience for our youngest audiences by actively engaging them in the process.
Note
How it works:
- Order a reward by clicking on one of the reward images on the right hand side of the page. At this point you will authorise Culturelabel.com to deduct the funds relating to the reward you chose.
- If this project does not reach its funding goal in its funding period, your card will not be billed and your order will be cancelled.
- If the project is successful, your card will be billed and you will receive your reward.
Where possible, if the project reaches its funding goal you should receive your reward promptly after the end of the funding period. However, please be aware that owing to the nature of this project, those rewards associated with the artwork itself cannot be dispatched until the artwork is complete. This may take some time following the completion of the funding period. The arts organisation running the project will be responsible for speedy dispatch of your rewards as soon as they are available, and will keep you updated on the progress of the project and timetable for dispatch of your rewards. By ordering a reward through Culture Label this indicates that you have agreed to this longer timeframe for dispatch of those rewards directly associated with an event or new artistic product. Reward images are illustrative. The rewards may look substantially different to the representations on WeDidThis.
