You Left Me in the Dark

£1,015 funded; target achieved!

You Left Me in the Dark is a piece of new writing inspired by Chekhov’s The Seagull that explores the themes of abandonment and devotion. Spun Glass Theatre’s intimate improvisational style creates a fresh theatre event for a teenage to adult audience. The music of Florence + the Machine reflects the passionate nature of the characters’ love affair with each other and the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament.

Spun Glass Theatre is an emerging theatre company based in Brighton. Their debut production Laura was a distillation of Tennessee Williams’ The Glass Menagerie using film, dance and improvisational acting techniques. Laura received critical acclaim and strong audience support at the Brighton and Edinburgh Fringe Festivals 2010 as part of the Laughing Horse Free Fringe.

“***** Beautifully poignant” - Three Weeks
“compelling...a standout performance from Marie Rabe” – Total Theatre.

Spun Glass Theatre also produced Ink by Laura Lexx, a new writing piece which explores the personal implications of media scrutiny. Ink has completed a successful run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2011 after receiving ‘crowd-funding’ via the innovative website WeDidThis.

Where possible, if the project reaches its funding goal you should receive your reward promptly after the end of the funding period. However, please be aware that owing to the nature of this project, those rewards associated with the artwork itself cannot be dispatched until the artwork is complete. This may take some time following the completion of the funding period. The arts organisation running the project will be responsible for speedy dispatch of your rewards as soon as they are available, and will keep you updated on the progress of the project and timetable for dispatch of your rewards. By ordering a reward through Culture Label this indicates that you have agreed to this longer timeframe for dispatch of those rewards directly associated with an event or new artistic product.
